Bo Nickal lived up to his hype as one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC today, and then some. At UFC 285, the three-time NCAA Division I national champion's grappling prowess was on full display against Jamie Pickett.

Nickal's intentions were clear from the opening sequence of the fight. He wanted to utilize his wrestling and take the fight to the ground. He did exactly that, engaging in the clinch early. 'The Allen Assassin' pressed Pickett against the cage and got his opponent in a headlock to eventually take his back. He executed a brilliant takedown from the position and established top control.

Bo Nickal exercised patience after establishing a dominant position with plenty of time to get a finish. He worked for nearly a minute to achieve the proper position and grip for the submission. He eventually locked in an arm-triangle choke and clocked the finish at 2:54 in the very first round.

With this victory, Bo Nickal extended his undefeated professional MMA record to 4-0. Nickal was awarded a UFC contract following a strong performance in Dana White's Contender Series 56 last year. Nickal walked away with a quick first-round submission victory over Donovan Beard in his second attempt at a UFC contract. Nickal's four victories have all come by way of a finish.

Bo Nickal promises to achieve the pound-for-pound No.1 spot following his victory at UFC 285

Many in the mixed martial arts community believe that Bo Nickal is destined for greatness in the UFC and could one day become a champion in the organization.

It goes without saying that Nickal aspires to win the UFC championship. He took a step closer to that goal with a stunning first-round submission victory over Jamie Pickett at UFC 285.

Nickal reacted to his performance in the post-fight octagon interview, stating:

"Man, I feel like [I am] home. I've been training my whole life for this. I feel like I was born, bred [and] I train every day to come out here and dominate. And that's what I did."

Nickal added:

"I'm 4-0, I'm only 27.... I've been doing MMA for only a year and a half and I'm in the main card of a UFC pay-per-view. That's insane. I'm going to keep getting better, dominate, and you bet your a*s I'm getting that belt and I will be pound-for-pound No.1 fighter by the time my career is done."
