UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has backed Conor McGregor in light of news of the Irishman's decision to leave the USADA testing pool to recover from his leg injury.

Despite voicing his urge to compete on the grand stage of the world's premier MMA organization next year, it remains to be noted that 'The Notorious' is yet to re-enter the USADA testing pool and must be in it for six months before he can be booked to fight inside the octagon.

Combining that with Conor McGregor's massive physical transformation, MMA fans and fellow peers are of the opinion that the Irishman has perhaps used performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) to ensure a speedy recovery.

Despite the rumors that have spread like wildfire, Aljamain Sterling has sided with McGregor, claiming that he would have done the same perhaps in order to recover from the horrific injury.

'Funk Master' also questioned USADA's criteria for being eligible for the exemption under "exceptional circumstances".

Sterling took to Twitter to react to the news and wrote:

"Interesting. I wonder what falls under those circumstances. Personally, if I had an insane injury like that, I wouldn’t think twice about doing what I need to do to heal back to as close to 100% as possible. There is life after fighting like walking everyday and playing with kids."

Conor McGregor is healing from a leg injury he sustained in the third fight against Dustin Poirier last year at UFC 264.

With each passing day, fans of 'The Notorious' are waiting in anticipation for potential fight news. McGregor, on his part, has teased a comeback before his upcoming movie Road House hits the silver screen.

McGregor has also been regularly posting training footage online to tease his return. Most recently, he posted a video of himself drilling a takedown defense, with the caption:

"Sh*t hot everywhere. The real GOAT. There’s not a place I’m not great. Some of your goats can’t even kick."

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling was impressed by the technique that McGregor demonstrated in the video. "As a fan of the game," Sterling offered his advice to the Irishman in the comments section and claimed that he's excited for the return of 'Mystic Mac':

"Some beautiful transitions in here and some cheeky strikes to throw off the offensive attacks in the single leg. Great balance. Just watch the post leg and stay aware of the trips, off the bouncing on one leg. As a fan of the game, I look fwd to your return."
