Allycia Hellen Rodrigues has waited a long time for her chance to finally step back inside the circle, a wait that ends at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24.

Rodrigues hasn’t fought since her ONE Championship debut in August 2020, when she dethroned Stamp Fairtex to become the ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion.

After taking a few years away from competition for the birth of her first child, Rodrigues has been building up her excitement to come back and do what she does best.

Unfortunately, her wait was extended. Originally scheduled to unify her division’s world titles with interim world champion Janet Todd at ONE on Prime Video 5 in December, the fight was canceled at late notice due to Todd testing positive for COVID-19.

Having to wait even longer for her return to fighting has only made Allycia Hellen Rodrigues even more motivated to put on a show at ONE Fight Night 8.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, the world champion said:

“It’s been a long time since my last fight, so the desire to fight is getting stronger. And I try to put that desire more and more into each training session.”

The last time ONE Championship fans saw Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, she produced an incredible display to shock the world and dethrone Stamp Fairtex.

Stamp had a rapid rise to the top of the promotion by becoming a two-sport world champion, holding both the ONE atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai titles during her first year competing under the ONE banner.

After losing her kickboxing world championship to Janet Todd, the odds still seemed heavily in Stamp’s favor for her Muay Thai contest with Rodrigues.

The opening three rounds were very closely contested, to the surprise of the fans in attendance and those watching at home. But the biggest shock came when Allycia Hellen Rodrigues started to pull away from the defending champion in the fourth round, doing some significant damage.

ONE Championship posted a clip of the fight on Instagram:

"ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Helen Rodrigues is FIERCE 🤯 The Brazilian striker defends her throne against interim queen Janet Todd on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video! 👑 @allycia_phuketfightclub"

Whilst the performance from Stamp Fairtex wasn’t bad, Rodrigues was just too dominant on the night. The Brazilian world champion continued to up her pace throughout the fight and eventually overwhelmed the Thai superstar.
