Andrew Tate was recently arrested in Romania along with his brother Tristan on charges of human trafficking amongst others. Subsequent rumors suggested that Tate might have given away his location by ordering a pizza.

However, Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman for the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, or DIICOT, recently dismissed the rumors. According to Bolla, the pizza order had no role to play in Tate's arrest or its timing. Bolla said in a telephonic interview with The Washington Post:

“It was a hard job gathering all the evidence.”

A self-proclaimed misogynist, Andrew Tate recently engaged in a war of words with teenage activist Greta Thunberg. The kickboxer uploaded a rant video directed at Thunberg where he was seen ordering in from the renowned Romanian chain Jerry's Pizza.

An internet theory suggested that the authorities pinned down Andrew Tate's location through the pizza order. Thunberg, Elon Musk, and even the pizza chain itself did not refrain from taking a dig at Tate over rumors of the order leading to his arrest.

U.S. Embassy report about missing citizen led to an investigation of Andrew Tate

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, along with two other individuals, have been under investigation by Romanian authorities since last April. Spokesperson for DIICOT Ramona Bolla stated that the investigation into the Tate brothers started after the U.S. Embassy reported a citizen being involuntarily held at a house in Ilfov.

Romanian authorities previously identified six people who were recruited and then sexually abused in Ilfov county. Authorities claimed that the victims were coerced into performing pornography for distribution on social media. One of the suspects, although Bolla did not specify which, is also accused of raping a victim twice.

Bolla also reported that the alleged American victim is no longer in the country while the other five are from Romania and Moldova.

While the conviction on charges of human trafficking in Romania is three and 10 years for rape, penalties for rape can range between five and 10 years.

Bolla also reported that authorities have obtained permission to detain the Tate brothers and the other two suspects for 30 days. While the suspects have appealed the decision, the authorities seemingly intend to see the case through, irrespective of the judges' decision. Bolla added:

“No matter what the judge decides [on the longer detention], we will take further action in investigating this crime."

While social media remains split on the matter, the split seems to favor the Tate's.
