Glory MMA coach and former UFC fighter James Krause has reportedly been pulled and suspended from cornering in the UFC.

As highlighted by TSN's Aaron Bronsteter, the 36-year-old Krause's pupil Miles Johns alluded to the suspension at the UFC Vegas 65 event earlier tonight. Johns defeated Vince Morales in a bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 65.

Krause served as Miles Johns' coach for his fight camp against Vince Morales. During Johns' post-fight octagon interview, the bantamweight suggested that his coach couldn't corner him tonight because he was suspended by the UFC.

As per Bloody Elbow's Mookie Alexander, James Krause's penchant for gambling on MMA fights whilst also being the lead trainer for several fighters could likely be the reason behind his UFC suspension.

As of this writing, the UFC is yet to release an official statement regarding Krause's reported suspension. Regardless, fans can expect additional details to unravel sooner rather than later.

Intriguingly, the UFC put forth a memo aimed at its fighters last month, prohibiting them from gambling on any UFC fight even if they're not directly involved in the said fight. MMA journalist Ariel Helwani posted a tweet regarding the memo. An excerpt from the memo sent out by UFC exec Hunter Campbell reads as follows:

"As you know, the UFC Athlete Conduct Policy requires UFC’s contracted athletes to act in a legal, ethical, and responsible manner and avoid conduct detrimental to the integrity of the UFC organization. In light of clear direction that we have received from regulators responsible for the regulated sports betting industry in the United States, we are compelled at this time to recognize in the UFC Athlete Conduct Policy certain restrictions relating to wagering by our athletes, members of their teams and certain others."

Has James Krause retired from MMA competition?

James Krause made his professional MMA debut way back in November 2007. He last competed in October 2020, beating Claudio Silva via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie.

Furthermore, in August of this year, Krause appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and suggested that he isn't interested in continuing his fighting career. This indicates that he's retired from MMA.

However, James Krause did manage to successfully carve a legacy for himself as a crafty and durable mixed martial artist. His body of work as a fighter earned him significant respect in the MMA community. That, in turn, has been amplified by his stellar work as an MMA coach in recent years. Krause coaches several fighters at Glory MMA & Fitness located in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
