UFC lightweight veteran Michael Johnson has signed a new five-fight deal with the promotion, according to a recent Instagram post. 'The Menace' had suffered a slump in form over recent fights, and prior to his recent victory over Marc Diakiese, Johnson was 3-5 in his last 8 bouts.

But it seems that following his recent win, the promotion decided to stick with 'The Menace,' and he penned the following to Instagram:

"Let them think we’re done!! Not done by a long shot!! We’re just getting started. New five fight deal. New fight contract. It’s All about business."

His memorable Fight of the Year winner against Justin Gaethje in 2017 will be forever etched in the memory of fans who witnessed the bout. Michael Johnson's new five-fight deal will allow him to create more memorable moments for fans. 'The Menace' appears to have re-energized with his new deal, but there is no indication of who Johnson will face first.

Johnson recently had a back-and-forth on Twitter with fellow lightweight veteran Tony Ferguson, following Johnson's critique of Ferguson's striking skills.

'El Cucuy' said this:

"I Fought The Turkey W/ One Arm During Our Fight. That Was Before I Learned How To Check A Kick or Parry Even Muay Thai Style For That Matter. Let That Sink In Round and A Half W/ One Arm. Mikey’s Not A Bad Dude, But My Sights Are Lazered In On 1."

Michael Johnson replied with this:

"Gobble gobble! You’re one of the toughest to ever do it, but I broke your arm during that fight remember?? and does the lipstick refer to a “red rocket""

UFC veteran believes that judges will ever have to answer for the scorecards they submit

The overall quality of judges in MMA has been brought into question over the past six months in particular following a number of confusing scorecards. Paddy Pimblet's decision victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 springs to mind. More recently, the judge who awarded Marlon 'Chito' Vera a decision victory over Cory Sandhagen at UFC on ESPN 43 last weekend.

The judge in question, Joel Ojeda, mysteriously awarded Vera a 48-47 victory, which means that Ojeda believes that 'Chito' won three rounds of the bout. However, the other two judges awarded Sandhagen a 50-45 and 49-46 victory respectively. Fans and fighters alike were up in arms as to how Ojeda could have scored the fight 48-47.

UFC lightweight veteran Michael Johnson took to Twitter to declare that MMA judges will never be forced to give answers for their decision making, and that the outcry is somewhat pointless:

"None of them have to answer to the choices they make lol. Nothing will ever change. Is the sad part. Talk talk about it all day."
