Breaking: UFC San Antonio card this weekend faces fight cancellation as fighter falls out due to medical issues

The upcoming UFC San Antonio fight card is set to feature several exciting matchups. Also known as UFC on ESPN: Vera vs. Sandhagen, the event is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on March 25.

The card will be headlined by a highly anticipated five-round bantamweight bout between top 135-pound contenders Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen. Many in the MMA community view the clash as a pivotal one, as its winner could enter the title picture in the UFC men's bantamweight division.

That said, the UFC San Antonio fight card reportedly lost one fight just days before the event. As reported by MMA Fighting, the women's bantamweight bout between Hailey Cowan and Tamires Vidal, which was expected to transpire at the event, has been canceled. Apparently, Vidal had to withdraw from the fight owing to medical issues.

Cowan, an American MMA stalwart, was primed to make her UFC main roster debut at the event. She was coming off a split-decision victory over Claudia Leite, whom she faced at a 'Dana White's Contender Series' event in August 2022. Meanwhile, Brazil's Vidal was fresh off a first-round TKO win against Ramona Pascual, whom she defeated at a UFC Fight Night event in November 2022.
