Familiarity with his opponent paid huge dividends for newly minted ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Chingiz Allazov.

‘Chinga’ seized the gold in devastating fashion, winning by second-round knockout over then-champion Superbon Singha Mawynn in their title showdown at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Following a relatively even opening round between the protagonists, Chingiz Allazov picked up the ante in the opening minute of the second round, initially dropping Superbon twice with massive right hands. Sensing that he already had his opponent on the ropes, Allazov went for the finish from there, landing a huge overhand right that sent the Thai fighter to the mat for the third and final time.

In his post-fight interview with commentator Mitch Chilson, Allazov broke down his fight, stating that his familiarity with the way Superbon fights and the Thai style of fighting worked immensely to his advantage:

“One hundred percent, this is my game plan, but this is not my game plan [alone]. My team’s game plan, it was my coach, Andrei Gridin’s game plan. I focused 100 percent. I said before, Mitch, I liked his style, I like Thai style. I know. I see many mistakes from Superbon, I say maybe he makes a mistake and I catch him.”

The title conquest completed an impressive run in the last year-and-a-half for Chingiz Allazov, which also saw him win the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix that earned him a title shot.

Chingiz Allazov was laser-focused on beating Superbon

New ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Chingiz Allazov knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish at ONE Fight Night 6 and made sure to deliver on it.

‘Chinga’ said in the lead-up to his title fight with former champion Superbon Singha Mawynn that his entire focus was on his opponent and how to get the belt from him.

He told ONE Championship in an interview:

"I like this day, after this, I thank many people. Thank you, guys. Those who say they support me and think I will win but after this fight, I don't know what my plan is. Now I'm 100 percent concentrated on Superbon, real concentration."

Allazov added:

“I don’t like to say after I fight this guy, I will fight this guy, this guy. After the fight, I’ll say, okay, it’s no problem. Before the fight, my concentration only stays on this fight.”

Chingiz Allazov annihilated Superbon in the title showdown, winning by way of a second-round knockout after sending the Thai fighter three times to the mat.
