Colby Covington has blamed former Full Send podcast co-host Bob Menery for the reason he was attacked by Jorge Masvidal outside a restaurant in Miami.

Covington last appeared in the octagon at UFC 272 when he defeated bitter rival Masvidal via unanimous decision. Much of their fight build-up was personal, with the pair often trading verbal attacks on one another and their families.

Their UFC bout didn't mark the end of their rivalry, however, as on March 22, Masvidal infamously assaulted Covington outside a restaurant in Miami. The pair have since been locked in a legal battle, as Masvidal was arrested for aggravated battery and 'Chaos' claimed he had suffered brain damage.

Colby Covington has now recently returned to the public eye after his appearance at UFC 286 as a back-up fighter for the main-event. During the pay-per-view, Covington sat down with the press and gave some details about the night he was attacked by Masvidal.

According to 'Chaos', Bob Menery is at fault for the attack. Covington explained that he had just finished filming an episode of the Full Send podcast with the Nelk Boys, and Menery later tagged him in an Instagram post, adding Papi’s Steakhouse as the location.

“I don’t have a relationship with Bob Menery. The only reason that I had met that guy was through the Nelk Boys, through Kyle and those guys, because I was doing the podcast with those guys....I don’t know what to believe with that guy, I think he set me up with what happened, but I’ll let that work out the way it does."

He further stated:

“I ran into him ironically at the Super Bowl, he was there trying to get a picture, I was like, Nah, I ain’t taking a picture, we aren’t friends. We never were friends. So ... I just think he’s a fake guy and, uh, no relationship.”

Khamzat Chimaev calls Colby Covington a "liar" after he claimed he was never given the opportunity face him

At UFC 286, Colby Covington returned to the public eye in typical style by firing shots at anyone and everyone he could. Amongst those mentioned by 'Chaos' was Khamzat Chimaev.

The pair have often been rumored to be close to agreeing to fight multiple times, however the bout never materialized. During the press conference, Covington claimed it was because he was never offered the fight.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, 'Borz' hit back at Covington's claims and labeled him a liar. Chimaev stated that he had accepted the fight four times against the 35-year-old:

"Colby Covington is lying. He doesn't want to fight. I swear with everything I have. I swear with the Gods. I accept the fight four times. All the Muslims understand, I swear to Quran. I get four times call, 'you want to fight?' I said yes. I have conversations with Sean Shelby that show it as well that we're going to fight with this guy, but it never happened."
