Sean Strickland doesn’t think anybody needs to be worried about Colby Covington’s threats toward Jon Anik.

Since surprisingly weighing in as the UFC 286 main event backup, Covington has been in the headlines for several controversial statements. The latest was threats he made towards Jon Anik during an interview with MMA Fighting. ‘Chaos’ had this to say about the beloved UFC commentator:

"So you wanted to lick my fricking b*lls in London, Oh Colby, then you want to go back behind the stage and cheerlead for a racist. So he associates with racism in Belal Muhammad. And Jon Anik, I don't want your kids to grow up without a dad. Just realize you live in Boca, I live in Miami motherf*cker, you're not too far from me so you better shut your f**king mouth, you poked the bear, now you get the best it comes after you."

Covington received a lot of backlash after threatening Anik. Strickland, a UFC middleweight, responded to the video on Twitter by saying:

“No one believes this sh*t lol”
“Lmao this is the same man who ran from Jorge and then presser charges lol!!! Bro calm down no one believes this sh*t”

Belal Muhammad issues Colby Covington a warning in Jon Anik's defense

Sean Strickland wasn’t the only UFC fighter to respond to Colby Covington’s comments. Belal Muhammad, who has been closely associated with the controversy surrounding 'Chaos' getting the next welterweight title shot, wasn’t happy with Covington’s threats. Muhammad had this to say on Twitter:

“Jon’s my brother I promise you he’s getting slapped just for disrespecting family”
“I’ll be in Miami in a couple weeks keep that same energy I hope the clown of dada county shows his face”

There are pros and cons to Covington’s controversial statements. The number two-ranked UFC welterweight has made himself the primary talking point in MMA. With that said, he continues to gain enemies, which led to the alleged assault by Jorge Masvidal in Miami.

Covington last fought in March 2022, defeating Masvidal by unanimous decision. After disappearing for a year, the 35-year-old returned as the backup fighter for the UFC 286 main event. Shortly after the event, Dana White announced that ‘Chaos’ would be the next welterweight title challenger.
