Conor McGregor intends on settling Nate Diaz rivalry after "burying" another former opponent upon UFC return

Conor McGregor has expressed interest in fighting Nate Diaz after settling another old rivalry on his return to the octagon. 'The Notorious' had a positive response to a recent call out from Dustin Poirier, whom he has already fought thrice.

Diaz also entered the conversation, claiming that both McGregor and Poirier are no strangers to getting KO'd. The Stockton native, who was last knocked out clean by Josh Thomson in 2013, wrote:

"You both get knocked out all the time 😴"

McGregor responded jovially, taking a dig at Diaz's well-known marijuana use. The former UFC double champion plans on going into a "hot box" with Diaz after putting Poirier "in a box." The Irish superstar tweeted:

Diaz recently parted ways with the UFC after a fourth-round submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. The most recent stoppage loss of his career came in the BMF title fight against Jorge Masvidal back in 2019, with the fight being called due to a nasty cut.

Nate Diaz is confident about Conor McGregor trilogy coming to fruition

While Nate Diaz may have left the UFC, he did not entirely dismiss the idea of returning to the octagon. While he wants to explore other avenues for the time being, the Stockton slugger is confident of a trilogy fight against Conor McGregor in the future.

When asked about a potential rubber matchup, Diaz said in the lead-up to his last UFC outing:

"The timing’s not on right now. We’ll worry about that later and for sure it’s gonna happen at some point. He can get back on what he’s gotta do, whatever that is. When we’re gonna match up, we’re gonna match up, but we ain’t going nowhere."
