Conor McGregor needs to humble himself a bit: Brendan Schaub

Conor McGregor last featured on a UFC card back in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Following a two-fight skid against 'The Diamond', a broken leg have kept the Irishman out of action for over a year and a half, something Brendan Schaub was on hand to remind him of.

The former UFC heavyweight spoke to The Schmo in an interview and addressed McGregor's potential return to action in 2023. He felt the need to advise the Irishman about humility when it comes to signing on for his next fight.

Schaub said:

"I think he [Conor McGregor] does [enter the octagon in 2023]. And I think he gets [Michael] Chandler or Tony Ferguson fight. He needs to humble himself a little bit. He can't go straight for like, a [Islam] Makhachev, that ain't ever happening. Plus, he is not making 155 [pounds]. So it's gonna have to be like, a Chandler at 170 or Tony Ferguson at 170. He can't fight the tip of the spear right now. You can't take all this time off and then jump in and fight the kings. It don't work like that."

Schaub dismissed any chance of a lightweight bout for McGregor with his current heavier physique. 'The Notorious' has continually updated fans with his training videos and has progressively bulked up in them too. That's left many speculating about a welterweight return for the former double champion.

Chael Sonnen believes Jake Paul belongs to an elite club with Conor McGregor

Former UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen had high praise for Jake Paul following the announcement of his signing with MMA organization, the Professional Fighters League.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube, Sonnen spoke about the attention and buzz that Paul generates prior to his fights. With that, he put him in the same category as past legends like Oscar De La Hoya, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and Conor McGregor:

"Jake Paul's debut in the PFL, meaning his debut in MMA. Doesn't matter who his opponent is. For a guy to be powerful enough, for a guy to be interesting in an attraction enough that his opponent does not matter. It's so incredibly rare. They say over the history of combat sports, it's only happened twice, Oscar De La Hoya and Mike Tyson. Now that list would need [to be] amended. You would need to put Floyd Mayweather on that list and you would need to put Conor McGregor on that list, but that's rare. Whether we deduce that Jake's in it or not, the mere fact that we're having to argue and talk it out. That right there proves a point."
