The ongoing feud between Conor McGregor and Irish comedian PJ Gallagher has left many fans, including those in Ireland, angry at the MMA superstar.

The feud began when Laura Sanko put McGregor on her list of the top five active UK fighters in the UFC, to which it was pointed out that McGregor is Irish. While Sanko was quick to recognize the error, the Irish comedian jokingly tweeted that the UK "can have this lad," referring to McGregor.

The comment left Conor McGregor furious. He posted a series of profane tweets that he later deleted, making fun of Gallagher's struggles with mental health.

Many didn't take kindly to McGregor's insults towards the comedian. However, one user pointed out that Gallagher fired first, to which 'The Notorious' MMA star replied:

"[What Gallagher said is] one of the heaviest insults you can give an Irishman. He is a weasel. Thank you, Alex, for highlighting [the fact]."

Another user said that having met both McGregor and Gallagher, and with them both being gentlemen, they'd like to see them settle the beef.

McGregor replied with the following:

"Why should I? He attempted to publicly rally people against me with a disgraceful insult and out of nowhere too, all while being an advocate for mental health in the press. It is the height of hypocrisy. I don’t know him. Never spoke on him once in my life."

PJ Gallagher, an Irish comedian and radio show host, has been vocal about his struggles with mental illness.

Did Conor McGregor threaten PJ Gallagher?

In his furious Twitter tirade against the Irish comedian, McGregor posted a certain picture with the caption, "Pj walkin home." Gallagher took a screenshot of McGregor's post and uploaded it on his handle.

The picture is of Donald Cerrone in the aftermath of his fight against 'The Notorious' star at UFC 246, where the Irishman dismantled 'Cowboy' in the first round. The bout left Cerrone bloody with a broken nose as a result of Conor McGregor landing shoulder strikes and a knee.

Many suggested that the post was a threat to Gallagher, which the comedian himself questioned when re-posting McGregor's tweet.

Conor McGregor last fought Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, where he ended up breaking his leg in the first round. Prior to that particular event, the Irishman was knocked out for the first time in his career by 'The Diamond' in the second round at UFC 257.

McGregor is 1-3 across his last four fights, having lost twice to Dustin Poirier and once to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. In his fight with 'The Eagle', he was choked out in the fourth round.
