UFC head honcho Dana White appeared on the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, where he was questioned about the immediate future of the reigning heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Jones took to X to express his interest in a mega fight against former heavyweight kingpin Francis Ngannou. There were serious ongoing talks of a potential fight between the two back when Ngannou was the holder of the heavyweight championship; however, he ended up walking away from the promotion soon after, and the fight never came to fruition. Jones now believes that a legacy fight between the two would go down in history.

A reporter informed White that 'Bones' had confirmed via a tweet that he has informed the UFC of his plans and is ready to vacate the championship. The UFC CEO responded that he has been busy and hasn't been "keeping up with the gossip." He further stated that he intends to clear the air with Jones this Tuesday.
"He said that] he's ready to vacate the belt? F*ck*ng crazy! I've been busy, I haven't been keeping up with the gossip. He's home, we'll be home tonight, and Tuesday we'll figure this out."
White was then asked whether he would be interested in a collaborative effort with the PFL to make the Jones vs. Ngannou fight happen. White responded that his sole focus is on getting Jones' title unification bout against Tom Aspinall signed.
"It's Aspinall's fight. We have been talking to this kid forever about it, and it's his fight. I don't have Ngannou on a contract, and Aspinall is the guy."
The 55-year-old added that he is not interested in bringing 'The Predator' back to the UFC.
"Probably not."
