Dana White slapping his wife on New Year's Eve while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, has sparked fierce discussions in the sporting community. The fact that White's wife was captured on camera initiating the physical altercation has led some to believe that she is also to blame, while others, such as Stephen A. Smith, believe that White should be punished for his actions.

White was seen engaging in a heated argument with his wife while visibly intoxicated in a video released by TMZ earlier this week. The situation was exacerbated when Anne White slapped her husband in the face. White struck his wife back in the face, but other group members intervened. White and his wife have both released statements claiming they have reconciled and requested that everyone allow them some privacy to deal with the situation.

Stephen A. Smith, an American sports television personality, stated that UFC President Dana White should be subjected to the same punishment that he has deemed appropriate for other abusers in the past in response to the mounting outcry for disciplinary action against White. Speaking on the latest episode of the weekday morning sports debate show First Take, Smith said:

"You do not put your hands on a woman if you're a man. Dana White knows that. He has spoken out against men who have put their hands on women before and whatever punishment you would exact in these circumstances to somebody else is what he should apply to himself."
