Daniel Cormier believes it's time for Dominick Reyes to hang up his gloves. After his knockout loss to Ryan Spann at UFC 281, Reyes found himself facing his fourth consecutive loss in the UFC.

Spann managed to get rid of Reyes in under two minutes of the first round and Cormier is of the belief that it might be time for the No.12 ranked light heavyweight contender to walk away from the octagon.

Recently speaking to Ryan Clark on their podcast, the DC and RC show, Cormier questioned Reyes' future as a professional fighter in the UFC.

"Is it time for Dominick Reyes to walk away after what Ryan Spann did to him? Because we got a guy who was super close to becoming the champion against Jon Jones, to now getting knocked out by Jiri [Prochazka] who is the champ, and Jan Blachowicz who was the champ. Now he's not fighting champions, he lost to a guy in Ryan Spann who has now won two in a row."

Clark and Cormier further discussed 'The Devastator' looking poor against his recent opponents. They agreed on Clark's observation of Reyes losing his durability against Spann, along with his lack of success on the offensive.

Daniel Cormier added:

"Dominick Reyes was so close to being the champion. When it starts to take a turn the way it has, it's time for him to walk away."

Reyes's last win came back in 2019 against Chris Weidman. 'The Devastator' then faced Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title, losing via a controversial decision. He has since lost his next three fights, getting knocked out by Jan Blachowicz, Jiri Prochazka, and Ryan Spann.

Daniel Cormier believes brilliant corner work was key to Alex Pereira's win at UFC 281

Alex Pereira came out on top against Israel Adesanya at UFC 281, capturing the middleweight title and beating his longtime kickboxing rival for the third time.

In the final round of a fight that initially seemed to be going Adesanya's way, Pereira found a way to pin 'Izzy' against the cage and barraged him with a flurry of unanswered shots before the referee stopped the contest.

Daniel Cormier shared his reaction after the event and believes Glover Teixeira and the other cornermen on Pereira's team deserve to be credited for 'Poatan's win. He said:

“I think the key was Glover Teixeira and his team letting Alex Pereira know, very sternly, if you want to be the champion, you’ve got five minutes. You’ve got to lay it all out there. And that’s exactly what he did."

Alex Pereira won the middleweight championship after just four fights in the UFC. Glover Teixeira also faces a rematch against Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title at UFC 282 in December.
