Flyweight Muay Thai fighter Duangsompong Jitmuangnon is drawing inspiration from champion teammate Rodtang Jitmuangnon as he moves to carve a name for himself in ONE Championship.
Both fighting out of Jitmuangnon Gym, Duangsompong is looking to use the blueprint laid out by Rodtang, who's steadily made his way to the summit of the promotion to become one of its top athletes.
In an interview with ONE Championship, the rising Thai striker said:
“When I watch Rodtang fight, I want to become a ONE world champion and earn a lot of money like him.”
Duangsompong Jitmuangnon will be featured in the headlining fight for the fourth installment of ONE Friday Fights. The event is set for February 10 at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
He will be going up against highly touted opponent Batman Or.Atchariya.
Duangsompong Jitmuangnon is looking forward to competing at ONE Friday Fights 4 and showcasing what he is capable of as a fighter:
“When I knew that I was going to fight at ONE Lumpinee, I was really happy and excited. After watching my former opponents like Komawut FA.Group and Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi appear on ONE Lumpinee, it made me excited. Plus, I have never fought wearing small gloves before.”
ONE Friday Fights is a weekly show featuring top Muay Thai fighters from around the world, as well as noted prospects coming out of Thailand. The event series kicked off earlier this year.
Duangsompong Jitmuangnon looks to make an impression in ONE debut
Thai striker Duangsompong Jitmuangnon is out to make it a ONE Championship debut to remember when he competes as part of the fourth installment of ONE Friday Fights on February 10.
The Jitmuangnon Gym-affiliated fighter will collide with Batman Or.Atchariya in a flyweight Muay Thai showdown. The bout serves as the main event for the show happening at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
Duangsompong is viewing the event as a springboard for him to possibly be included in the promotion’s big arena events in different parts of the world.
He shared to ONE Championship:
“I will do my best in this fight so I can get promoted to fight on ONE Championship’s [arena] cards. It has always been my dream to compete in the big events of ONE Championship.
To prepare for his upcoming fight, Duangsompong is training hard with his team and studying the fights of champion teammate Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
