Khabib Nurmagomedov's coach compares Khamzat Chimaev to 'The Eagle' and Islam Makhachev
Khamzat Chimaev extended his unbeaten record at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, defeating Robert Whittaker via submission in the first round.
Following UFC 308, Mexican-American MMA instructor Javier Mendez, the head coach at the American Kickboxing Academy, was impressed with Chimaev's performance inside the octagon. When asked to compare 'Borz' to his pupils Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev, Mendez claimed that while they're all "A+" in terms of skill, their styles differ.
“I think they’re the same level, but they’re different [styles]. They’re not the same fighter, they’re just different just like Khabib and Islam – they’re the same level but they’re different, and Khamzat’s different. He’s not Islam and he’s not Khabib, he’s Khamzat – so I would rate his skills on the ground as A+, A+ for Islam and A+ for Khabib, but they’re all so different.”

UFC CEO Dana White has stated that he wants to see Chimaev fight for the middleweight title in 2025 in the United States. The reigning champion at 185 pounds is South Africa's Dricus du Plessis, who favors taking on the unbeaten phenom next over a rematch with Sean Strickland.
