“His fight IQ is very high” - Joshua Pacio breaks down the challenge of facing Jarred Brooks

'The Passion' Joshua Pacio has realistic expectations about what his next opponent brings to the table. At ONE 164 on December 3, Pacio will be looking to defend his ONE strawweight throne against 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks.

In an interview with JM Siasat’s Sparring Sessions, the Filipino-born Pacio explained how he views the skills of Brooks:

"Some of his movements are open, but he’s also unpredictable. You don’t know if he’s gonna strike or if he’s gonna go for a takedown. His fight IQ is very high, very good in mixing things up."

'The Passion' has defended his throne in three consecutive bouts and will look to make it a fourth at ONE 164. He will be competing in front of his home nation as the fight event is hosted in Manila, Philippines.

Team Lakay has prepared a game plan specifically to nullify Brooks' game. Pacio said:

“I trained hard for this, all the aspects of my game so I’m ready for it. I think we got this special game plan for this fight. We see holes in that man.”

Joshua Pacio may look to submit Jarred Brooks

'The Passion' is an incredible finishing fighter, with 85% of his victories coming by way of knockout or submission. Joshua Pacio has slick skills both on his feet and on the ground. He explained in the above interview that he may be looking to submit the American wrestler.

When asked about winning via submission, Pacio answered:

"It’s possible man, this is mixed martial arts. Anything can happen, anything can happen. If this is pure wrestling, he can beat me. If this is pure jiu-jitsu, he can beat me. But this is mixed martial arts."

The main event of ONE 164 on December 3 is a much anticipated and long-awaited showdown. Pacio and Brooks have wanted to face off against each other for quite some time.
