Lerone Murphy recently opened up about his near-fatal accident during UFC 286 media day.

Back in May 2022, Murphy suffered a horrific accident when he was knocked off his bicycle by a speeding car. He suffered serious head injuries and nearly bled out. However, he was saved by an ambulance that arrived just in time to take the UFC fighter to the hospital.

It is worth noting that this wasn't the first time 'The Miracle' cheated death. On May 25, 2013, Murphy had his first near-death experience. He was leaving a barbershop in Fallowfield, England, when a gunman opened fire on the then 21-year-old. However, he somehow managed to survive after being hit in the face and neck.

Lerone Murphy is grateful to have survived the two accidents. Speaking about his bicycle accident which happened nearly a year ago, 'The Miracle' had this to say:

“I thought it was game over. I didn’t think I’d be back here anyway, especially not so soon. Doctors were saying all sorts of stuff like whatever, like fighting’s not good now and what not. It was heartbreaking at the time, but I’ve got good people around me, good friends, and I just stayed on course.”

Murphy opened up on the things he learned during his 18-month hiatus from MMA during the same interview. 'The Miracle' stated:

"That I'm resilient and I know what I want. This is what I love, it showed me like this is what I love. Like, beforehand I kind of was just doing it, if that makes sense, doing it because I'm good at it or don't do anything else. But now, I feel like that time off was good for me, I needed that."
