Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are currently being detained in Romania based on accusations that include human trafficking and rape.

The former kickboxer, who shot to fame for his less than savory opinions on a variety of topics, was arrested along with his brother and two other Romanian women in late December.

While the brothers were originally arrested for 24 hours, a plea from Romanian authorities for a 30-day extension was granted by the court. Two similar pleas have since been granted one after the other, each extending Andrew Tate's detention by 30 days. Appeals against the extensions by Tate's team have consistently been turned down.

Meanwhile, the two Romanian women associated with Tate, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu, were recently called back into detention after being allowed to leave custody for house arrest last week.

The Romanian court had previously justified Tate's extended detention by citing flight risks and the accused's ability to exert influence over alleged victims. The court more recently claimed that the brothers should now remain in detention to maintain public order, removing the aforementioned grounds.

Andrew Tate also recently dismissed cancer rumors after leaked medical reports from Dubai revealed a lesion in his lung.

Andrew Tate's lawyer provides update on potential timeline of his detention

Andrew Tate's counsel recently added Tina Glandian, who has previously worked with controversial celebrities like Mike Tyson and Kanye West.

According to Glandian, the Romanian authorities are yet to file any charges against Tate and have continued to extend his detention without presenting any new evidence.

Glandian claims that Tate's detention can be extended for a maximum of 180 days without any charges being filed, simply on investigative grounds. The renowned lawyer recently told Tucker Carlson on Fox News:

"They arrested them [the Tate brothers] at the end of December and initially, it was a 24-hour arrest and then, the prosecution made an application for a 30-day extension which was granted. And last month, they sought a further 30-day extension that was granted and most recently, that was extended again until the end of March. And they have up to 180 days in which they could extend this detention without formally charging them with any crimes. So, it's an ongoing criminal investigation but they are detained." h/t Sportskeeda

Having been arrested last December, Andrew Tate could seemingly be detained until June while Romanian authorities investigate allegations against him.
