Muay Thai strawweight fighter 'Supergirl' Anna Jaroonsak is looking to redeem herself after taking flak for her performance in her last fight.
Supergirl took on Ekaterina ‘Barbie’ Vandaryeva in January 2022 at ONE: Heavy Hitters. The bout ended in a split decision in her favor.
While she managed to hack out the win, a few pundits and observers, as well as fans, felt it should have been the Belarusian who won and made it known across various platforms.
In an interview with ONE Championship, the Thai Muay Thai fighter admitted that she took the criticism hard and cried a lot over the backlash she received.
She said:
“I was crying like a baby. I couldn’t even watch the match. I shut myself in the room and told my sister to turn off my phone because I didn’t want to accidentally read comments on social media anymore. That made me understand why movie stars or artists get depressed from trash comments.”
The young Thai warrior will get her shot at redemption when she reengages with Vandaryeva on January 13 at ONE Fight Night 6 in Bangkok, the promotion’s first live offering for 2023.
At the event, the hometown bet will try not to leave anything to doubt by giving a better showing while winning her third straight fight in the promotion. Vandaryeva, for her part, has yet to win in ONE Championship since making her debut in October 2019.
