Jarred Brooks is as confident as anyone in the world of mixed martial arts, and he feels that he’s already figured out ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio.

The No.1-ranked strawweight contender will challenge Pacio for the gold at ONE 164 next Saturday, December 3, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

In his interview with MMA Sucka, Brooks said that he’s not necessarily looking past Pacio but believes he’s already come up with ways to defeat the Filipino star.

Jarred Brooks added that Pacio and coach Mark Sangiao could have also come up with a game plan in beating him. Either way, the American star is confident he has what it takes to topple Pacio off the strawweight throne:

“I don’t necessarily look over people, but I see these things and I know ways to beat him. And he probably sees ways to beat me as well. His coach is really good, Mark is really really good and their team knows what they’re doing.”

Brooks has been clamoring for a fight against Pacio the moment he arrived in ONE Championship in late 2021. Though he wasn’t given an outright world title shot, Brooks did the work going on a three-fight win streak en route to his world title opportunity.

‘The Monkey God’ last saw action at ONE 156 this past April when he submitted South African star Bokang Masunyane in the first round of their match.

Pacio, meanwhile, is arguably ONE Championship’s greatest male strawweight. ‘The Passion’ is on his second reign with the ONE strawweight world title.

The Team Lakay fighter has a combined reign of more than 1,000 days.

Jarred Brooks would be hyped if Manny Pacquiao attends ONE 164

Just like any other fighter in ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks approaches his fights with the utmost seriousness. It doesn’t mean, though, that he won’t be taking in the atmosphere of the event.

Brooks knows that Filipino fans love their athletes and he even talked about the possibility of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao attending ONE 164.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Jarred Brooks said that he’d love to see Pacquiao in the audience during his fight against Pacio:

“That would be really cool. I’m not a huge boxing fan, but Manny Pacquiao, he’s a legend and he’s definitely a familiar face to everybody. I would love to see Manny Pacquiao and some famous faces over there.”
