At ONE 164, Jarred Brooks will compete for the ONE strawweight world championship. The American will take on dominant champion Joshua Pacio in his home country of the Philippines when ONE Championship returns to Manila.

Paired with the huge ONE on Prime Video 5 card, ONE 164 is part of a massive double-bill to end the year in style. In the main event on December 3, the heated build-up between Brooks and Pacio will finally come to an end when the two men go head-to-head.

After their originally scheduled date was postponed, ‘The Monkey God’ has trash-talked his opponent throughout and shows no signs of stopping until the cage door closes.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Jarred Brooks spoke about giving Pacio an "a**-kicking":

“Don’t get me wrong, he’s like the Manny Pacquiao over there in the Philippines. But people know that real shit comes from America. And I’m going to give him a good American a**-kicking.”

Brooks hasn’t been afraid to play the heel role against the hometown favorite. Despite Joshua Pacio not giving the challenger much to go off, this hasn’t deterred him from continuing to make big statements about their fight.

Jarred Brooks feels he’s already beaten Joshua Pacio

In his short time with ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks has emerged as the No.1 strawweight contender and one of the promotion's most divisive characters.

Since debuting in 2021, the American has produced three consecutive wins, with two via submission. ‘The Monkey God’ made his intentions clear early on that he was coming straight for Joshua Pacio, and he won all three of his fights in ONE Championship after Pacio’s last world title defense.

Joshua Pacio has dominated the division with three consecutive world title defenses since winning back the strap from Yosuka Saruta, but Brooks ran right to the top of the division and showed no respect to the champion.

In an interview with MMA Sucka, the challenger said:

“I don’t think Joshua Pacio is ever gonna catch up to what I’ve brought and I have fought better than Joshua Pacio, no knock to him. I have not fought the wushu caliber with the calculated mind that Joshua Pacio has, but there’s just no way man.”

He added:

“I’ve already got the checkmate before you even moved your first pawn. I know that Josh isn’t gonna come close to my style.”
