Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor are two of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster. However, both have struggled as of late. With both fighters likely looking to face a fellow striker, a fight between the two made sense, leading fans to speculate.

The No.11-ranked welterweight recently shared that the former double champ does not want to fight him. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Masvidal stated:

"I want Conor, but Conor doesn't want me. It sucks, you know? He just doesn't want it. Every time the UFC's brought it up, he shoots it down. I don't know why."

Masvidal continued by explaining why he believes McGregor is avoiding a potential matchup:

"I think I'm [physically] bigger, I think I'm quicker than him, and we both know I hit harder than him, so I get it. Stylistically, it's not the best for him or his brand, you know? Not only am I going to beat the f**king brakes off of him, but I'm going to do it in a way which is not good for his brand."

While McGregor is reportedly targeting a return to the octagon in 2023, nothing has been made official as of yet. Masvidal, meanwhile, is set to face Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in April.

Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor will receive a title shot with just one win

Conor McGregor has had just one win since becoming a double champ at UFC 205 way back in 2016.

Combined with his inactivity since UFC 264 in 2021, the UFC's biggest star has dropped out of the lightweight rankings. Despite this, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping believes that McGregor will receive a title shot with just one win.

During a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, the mixed martial arts analyst stated:

"Listen buddy, you like it or not, Conor's still the biggest star in the sport, and with one win, you can bet your bottom dollar that he is gonna fight for the title. Of course he is. Of course he is, and the reality is, if you own the organization and you had a guy like Conor that could bring in millions of pay-per-view buys, you'd probably do the same thing. I don't agree with it but that's just the way the world works."

Bisping added that he believes Tony Ferguson is the perfect opponent for McGregor's comeback fight. Both fighters are reportedly in talks to coach the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.
