On the back of ONE Championship’s consecutive events in Manila, CEO Chatri Sityodtong had a lot to say as the promotion closed out the year.
Sityodtong’s sentiments came after Jarred Brooks emerged victorious in the main event of ONE 164 to become the new ONE strawweight world champion. Brooks spoke about how ONE Championship treats everyone like a family and how he felt at home in the promotion.
Sityodtong then acknowledged that in his post-event press conference when speaking about the similarities and differences between ONE Championship and the UFC.
Chatri Sityodtong said:
“My dream would be ONE versus UFC and I think it would be the biggest martial arts event in history, full stop. East versus West, the whole shebang. Although I think both UFC and ONE are not East or West anymore, we’re both global giants, right? And then lastly, you ask our athletes, who’s happier, which roster’s happier? Which roster has a great relationship with their boss? I understand them because on one side, the other bosses have never stepped in the ring and never set foot in a martial arts school.”
He added:
“I’ve been in martial arts my whole life, I understand martial arts at the highest level. I have empathy, I have compassion, I love our athletes and all of that comes out. That’s why Jarred is talking about it. He’s not the first guy to say that ONE Championship treats its athletes so well. So yeah, I think Jarred’s right.”

ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong was pumped up going into a huge weekend for the promotion. With a stacked double bill, ONE arrived in Manila with ONE on Prime Video 5 and ONE 164 as they looked to close out the year with some big fights.
Before the events got underway this past weekend, Sityodtong delivered a speech to his fighters backstage to get them motivated for the occasion and push them to achieve greatness.

With a lot of talk recently surrounding the family culture at ONE Championship, Sityodtong was keen to praise his fighters for choosing to compete with ONE.
During his speech, the CEO also pointed out just how many world champions there are competing under their banner, and that’s what ONE on Prime Video 5 and ONE 164 were all about.
Chatri Sityodtong also reminded the fighters gathered in the room of all the sacrifices they have made to get to this point, all for their love of martial arts and competition.
Speaking to the likes of Reinier de Ridder, Anatoly Malykhin, Kade Ruotolo, Brandon Vera, Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks, his speech went out to a star-studded room full of high-level competitors, who put on a show this past weekend.
