Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya recently shared which fight made him a fan of Cody Garbrandt, a former UFC bantamweight champion. According to Adesanya, it was Garbrandt's victory over Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 that caught his attention and made him a fan of Garbrandt's fighting style.

During a recent analysis video on his YouTube channel Freestylebender, Israel Adesanya weighed upon his favorite Cody Grabrandt fight. 'Izzy' was impressed by Garbrandt's precision striking, footwork, and head movement, which allowed him to outmaneuver and outstrike Cruz throughout the fight.

The former middleweight kingpin stated:

"I'll tell you one thing, Garbrandt though, what made me a fan was the Dominick Cruz fight, because I picked Dominick to win. I thought Dominick was gonna just school him with his veteran style. For Garbrandt that was the f*cking breakout performance and I'm such a fan of that fight just because it suprised me. I switched and I was like yo I'm a Cody fan."

Cody Garbrandt to face Trevin Jones at UFC 285

Cody Garbrandt, the former UFC bantamweight champion, has a new opponent for his upcoming fight after Julio Arce pulled out. Garbrandt will now face Trevin Jones at UFC 285 on March 4th in Las Vegas. The fight will mark Garbrandt's return to the octagon after a long layoff due to injuries.

The event is headlined by the much-awaited heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane, which has been vacant since the retirement of former champion Stipe Miocic. Fans can expect an action-packed event as some of the most elite fighters in the UFC will be competing. Garbrandt's fight against Jones is expected to be an exciting bout as both fighters are known for their knockout power and impressive records.

Cody Garbrandt is planning to return to his original weight class of 135 pounds for his upcoming fight. His previous attempt to compete in the flyweight division, where fighters weigh 125 pounds, was unsuccessful as he suffered a knockout loss to Kai Kara-France at UFC 269 in December 2021.

After the defeat, 'No Love' was scheduled to fight Rani Yahya on two occasions, but both matchups were canceled when Yahya withdrew from the bout. Unfortunately, Garbrandt has had a tough time in recent fights, with only one win in his past six fights dating back to November 2017.
