UFC 283 was Jamahal Hill's first opportunity to compete for the UFC championship against Glover Teixeira, and he displayed the best performance of his career under pressure. However, one moment during the post-fight interview stuck out as a great display of class and showmanship.

Jamahal Hill proved at UFC 283 that he is a well-rounded athlete in the sport for the long haul. Hill's composure during the grappling exchanges surprised everyone as the American left Teixeira bloodied and battered en route to a dominant unanimous decision victory.

After the defeat, the 43-year-old Glover Teixeira decided it was time to end his storied MMA career that spanned over two decades. In his post-match octagon interview, he urged the Brazilians in attendance to treat Jamahal Hill with dignity and refrain from throwing objects at the American. Earlier the same night, UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno faced the ire of the Brazilian crowd after he defeated Deiveson Figueiredo to close out their quadrilogy series.

Speaking of Teixeira's gesture and preventing any unfortunate incidents after the UFC 283 title fight in an interview with MMA Junkie, Jamahal Hill stated:

"I wasn't really worried about that man. I'm good in every hood. Nothing happened, you know. That's all Glover. Shoutout to Glover. He asked me... he told me to wait. He told me that, 'You will leave with me.' He wanted to walk me out and he did that. I appreciate that."

Jamahal Hill discusses the emotions behind being the last opponent that Glover Teixeira faced in his career

Glover Teixeira concluded his illustrious mixed martial arts career and walked away as an honorable representative of the sport. The respect accorded to the Brazilian by his peers is testament to his impact on the sport.

Before retiring, though, Teixeira made sure to leave his mark on the sport by guiding Alex Pereira to the UFC middleweight championship, and he plans to remain in 'Poatan's corner for as long as he competes.

Jamahal Hill elaborated on the honor he felt sharing the octagon with Teixeira during his final bout in the aforementioned interview, stating:

"It was an unspeakable honor. In Brazil, in his home country, to be able to do that .... everything, how it happened, it was just incredible man... And that was just basically what the emotion was in the end, it was just an incredible moment... He didn't lay down, he just didn't give it to me easy. I had to go out and truly earn this title."
