Joe Rogan fights back tears revisiting the tragic death of a former UFC champion

The renowned podcaster was fighting back tears on a recent episode of JRE with rapper and songwriter Jelly Roll. Fighting in the UFC appeals to primal instincts and demonstrates the purest form of competition, but it also exposes an individual's true character by putting their mettle to the test. Joe Rogan has close understanding of this experience of extreme vulnerability and has disclosed that he feels a profound connection with the fighters.

Rogan came across an old photo of his late friend and former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner and brought him up in conversation with Jelly Roll. Evidently, Rogan harbored lasting sorrow for his demise, which poured out while he spoke about him.

He also discussed the death of Tanner from heat exhaustion in the desert while on a solo camping trip in 2008:

"There's a dude named Evan Tanner, he was a UFC champion and a very interesting guy. He would do these things [where] he would go on a walkabout to try to find himself. He did one in Death Valley, and heat stroke apparently affects your ability to think straight. He couldn't figure out where the water was."

Rogan continued:

"I've never had a heat stroke, but the way it's described, no matter how tough you are, your brain doesn't work right... Like you're about to die, and then he died."

Tony Bellew backs Joe Rogan's claims that Tyson Fury has "no chance" of winning a fight against Jon Jones

Former professional boxer Tony Bellew has mocked Tyson Fury's claim that "no man born from his mother" could defeat him in a fight.

Fury and UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones have been trading barbs online after Joe Rogan claimed that Jones would beat Fury in a real fight.

Many would wager that Fury would win a boxing fight against Jones, but even more would bet that 'The Gypsy King' would be no match for 'Bones' in a mixed martial arts bout.

Tony Bellew backed Joe Rogan's claims that Tyson Fury has "no chance" of winning a fight against Jon Jones. Speaking in an interview with Boxing Social, Bellew stated:

"No boxer has any chance whatsoever. The minute someone comes at you and starts [shooting for takedowns], just hold your hands up bro. Just hold your hands up and say, 'I'm good, I don't need any of this.' Tyson Fury, mate I know you think you can wrestle, I know you think you're strong and heavy, if [Jon Jones] gets a hold of you, he is pulling limbs off. I'm talking you're going to lose your ankle, your knee, your arm. You're gonna lose something. Jon Jones is a freak of nature, the guy's a monster."
