It does not appear that the bitter rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will die down anytime soon. In a recent media appearance in Toronto, Canada, Nurmagomedov took a jibe at the Irishman.

During an interview for 'Class A Events,' "The Eagle" spoke of the achievements of Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov. He also poked fun at one of McGregor's most memorable quotes:

"Right now, we have current UFC and Bellator lightweight champions [Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov respectively] and this is amazing... I hear like a long time ago when one guy was talking about, 'We're here to take over.' But we are here to take over."

In the above quote, Nurmagomedov referenced the Irishman's iconic line, 'We're not here to take part. We're here to take over.' McGregor uttered these words after his victory over Diego Brandao in Dublin, Ireland.

Both Makhachev and Nurmagomedov recently became champions in their respective organizations.

Makhachev defeated Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 to be crowned the new lightweight king. The Dagestani is currently 23-1 as a professional fighter. At the age of just 24, Nurmagomedov defeated Patricky Pitbull at Bellator 288 to become the new 155-pound champion. The new Bellator lightweight king is currently undefeated with a record of 16-0.

Conor McGregor responds to Khabib Nurmagomedov's recent comments

Obviously, Khabib Nurmagomedov's recent comments did not sit well with Conor McGregor. The Irishman posted a response on Twitter but then deleted it.

In the deleted tweet, McGregor said the door was still open if "The Eagle" was interested in a rematch:

"I fight on! Your father's plan is never complete because you quit and ran, brother. God bless. I'm still here if you wanna go again. But your fear of defeat means you've already lost. Run from it all you want. We all lose in the end. Death takes us all. I fear nothing but god."

Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov can be classified under one of the ugliest rivalries in the UFC. After a lot of trash talk and personal jibes, the two lightweights finally locked horns at UFC 229, the biggest event in UFC history. "The Eagle" outclassed McGregor that night and scored a comfortable submission win in the fourth round.
