With the fighters ranked at No.2 and No.3 in the division, respectively, a massive performance from either man could see them face the winner of Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura set for UFC 310.

Following his previous fight, a decision defeat against Brandon Royval, 'The Assassin Baby' announced he would be taking a step back from competition. He highlighted some mental battles as the main reason for his decision.

"I was the first Mexican-born champion, the guy from a country, a huge country who bring a lot of support... With that being said, the responsibilities, it's not just the training camp, it's not just the fight. Now it's about the media, the responsibilities, the traveling, the media tours and all that stuff. I don't know, maybe I'm a p**sy, maybe I'm a weak person. Maybe other fighters could say, 'That's nothing. Shut the f**k up and keep going.' Maybe that's true. But I'm talking about myself."

Brandon Moreno unphased about Kai Asakura's UFC debut fight being for the title

Kai Asakura is the latest marquee signing made by the UFC, as the promotion announced his arrival in June from Rizin Fighting Federation.

He will face flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja in his debut at UFC 310, which has caused frustration from several contenders at 125 pounds, namely Kai Kara-France.

But Brandon Moreno is unbothered by Asakura's debut being for a UFC title, as he was asked to share his thoughts on the flyweight title fight during a recent interview with Shakiel Mahjouri.

He said this:

"I met [Asakura] like three years ago, and he's an amazing fighter. Really good fighter. He's in the title fight for a reason. To be honest, what Pantoja's doing right now, I don't care. I'm not in the conversation for the title right now. So right now whatever Pantoja does is whatever, until I get the next opportunity for the title."
