Michael Chandler has shared his immediate reaction to the recent announcement that he will compete against Conor McGregor as the two prepare to headline The Ultimate Fighter's 31st season later this year.

Dana White took to social media earlier today, insisting that he would be unveiling some colossal news, to which he revealed the 'TUF' coaches for the upcoming season. Although many expected the pair to be matched up, it was somewhat of a relief to see the UFC follow through with their rumored plans.

While reacting to the news, Michael Chandler reckoned that he cannot wait to share the octagon with Conor McGregor, but more importantly, he is eager to get started and help one of the lucky competitors realize their dream and earn a UFC contract.

"It's finally announced, the cat is out the bag. Team Chandler vs. Team McGregor, coaching The Ultimate Fighter, heading to Vegas here very soon to film in the same vicinity, the same city as my future opponent later on this year, Conor McGregor. My team versus his team, the competition starts right now.
"Ushering in these young men or women and parting my wisdom upon them. Every single fight matters because I'm gonna win this competition, first of all, and we're gonna make the dreams come true of one of these young athletes to get signed by the UFC."

Reports claimed that Tony Ferguson could be the man opposing McGregor when The Ultimate Fighter 31 commenced. But it seems the UFC went in a different direction and opted for the always-entertaining Michael Chandler instead.

What we know so far about Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler's season of The Ultimate Fighter

While it has been confirmed that the two fan favorites will be coaching the upcoming season of TUF and then subsequently facing one another in the UFC, it remains unclear as to when the stars will share the octagon.

As announced by Dana White, the first episode of the show will air on May 30 and will continue to release weekly episodes all the way up until August 15, with viewers able to stay up to date on ESPN and ESPN+.

This will be the second time 'The Notorious' has been a mentor on the popular reality TV show, having helped Artem Lobov reach the finals all the way back in 2015.
