ONE Fight Night 8 results: Superlek vs. Danial Williams

His fight may have had one sudden change, but Superlek Kiatmoo9 operated like clockwork in his defense of the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

Superlek showed the caliber of the fighter that he is and knocked out Danial Williams in the third round of their show closer at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon was supposed to challenge Superlek for the flyweight kickboxing belt, but an injury forced the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion to pull out the card. With Rodtang out, Williams was slotted into the main event during fight week.

Superlek, though, had no problems imposing his will against Williams.

‘The Kicking Machine’ started at a clinical pace, dissecting Williams with quick kicks down the midsection. It was in the second round that Superlek slowly pushed the action further clocking ‘Mini T’ with a couple of flying knees and a crisp roundhouse that slowed the challenger down.

Superlek knew that he had Williams under his control and proceeded to light him up in the third. The Thai superstar began launching more knee strikes down Williams’ way before knocking him down with a cracking roundhouse kick.

Danial Williams ducked in for an overhand punch, but all he got was a stiff leg to the face.

Though Williams managed to get back up to his feet, what met him was another knee to the face before Superlek ultimately put him away with a flurry of punches that forced referee Olivier Coste to stop the match 1:55 into the third.

In his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Superlek admitted that he didn’t have much time to study Williams. What he did, though, was follow his corner’s instructions during the fight itself:

"So I was really pressured in the first round, I must admit that I studied Williams very little from his previous fight and I was pressured. But then I followed my corner, and I cornered him up, used more of my kicks and that’s how I did it.”

Superlek Kiatmoo9’s victory was his fifth straight, ninth overall, in ONE Championship and he also pocketed a cool $50,000 bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong:

“So my big thanks go to boss Chatri Sityodtong, I’m the world champion today because of him, and my family got better because of him as well. Thank you so much to boss Chatri.”

The entire card was broadcast live and for free in North America via Prime Video.
