While they may be possible opponents down the line, it did not stop Rodtang Jitmuangnon from congratulating newly minted ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.

In a video posted by ONE Championship on Instagram, the 25-year-old fighter is seen hugging Superlek and congratulating him near circleside. The interaction came after he claimed the vacant flyweight belt with a unanimous decision victory over Spanish opponent Daniel Puertas in the co-headlining fight at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok.

The promotion whetted the fans’ interest with a caption that read:

“Brothers in arms 🤝 Is this the fight to make?”

‘The Iron Man’ could be the next opponent for Superlek, with Rodtang the No. 1-ranked contender in the division, as well as holding the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title.

A possible world title showdown between the two Thai superstars promises to be an engaging offering. The Muay Thai champion has made it known that he is very keen on adding another world title from a different sport.

With that, he was an invested spectator during the Superlek-Puertas fight and is looking forward to battling the victor.

Rodtang was also a winner at ONE Fight Night 6, beating China’s Jiduo Yibu by unanimous decision in their catchweight kickboxing (136.5 pounds) encounter.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon on adjusting to the last-minute opponent change

Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon was dominant in his unanimous decision victory over Jiduo Yibu in their catchweight kickboxing encounter at ONE Fight Night 6. However, he admitted that preparing for it was not easy since the Chinese fighter was not his original opponent.

‘The Iron Man’ was initially scheduled to fight Daniel Puertas of Spain for a flyweight kickboxing bout. ONE Championship bumped up Puertas to duel with Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the vacant world title belt.

While he respected ONE’s matchmaking decision, the Thai warrior shared that he struggled a bit in shifting his focus as it came when he was already deep in training for Puertas.

He told ONE in an interview:

“I’m fine with it. I respect ONE’s matchmaking decision. I know they will make the best matchup. But I have to admit, I did my homework on my original opponent, but I’ve had limited time to study a new one. It was a little bit of a struggle for me, but it is not a big deal.”

The 25-year-old fighter was impressive in his return to action in kickboxing after two years, dominating Yibu for much of their scheduled three-rounder. The bout even saw him score a knockdown late in the first round.
