Superbon Singha Mawynn delivered one of the cleanest knockouts of 2021. As the Muay Thai beast prepares to fight again next week, the finish is available for dissection on the web.

Superbon fought for the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title against Giorgio Petrosyan at ONE: First Strike in October 2021. The Italian had won four straight in ONE Championship, earning a shot at the belt in Singapore.

The entire fight and its dramatic conclusion have now been uploaded to ONE Championship’s YouTube channel:

It was clear that the Thai star was making reads through the strikes thrown through the first two rounds. Using teep and body kicks, he brought down the hands of Petrosyan. Every head kick that he threw inched closer and closer to connecting clean through the guard of Petrosyan.

Watching the slow-motion replay helps to show the setup behind the finish. A body kick prompted Petrosyan to throw a counter punch, a straight left hand. When the left hand returned to position, it dropped low and created a perfect opening for Singha Mawynn to respond with the head kick.

Petrosyan’s body imitated a whip cracking through the air and the fight was over in a flash. Superbon won the kickboxing world title, a belt he still holds today.

He’ll attempt to make his second defense on Friday, January 13, in Bangkok. Chingiz Allazov, the winner of the Grand Prix, will challenge for the belt. The world title fight is the main event of ONE on Prime Video 6, which kicks off a busy year for ONE Championship in Bangkok.

Joseph Lasiri believes Superbon is fighting “against the odds” against Allazov

One fighter who knows the kickboxing landscape well is Joseph Lasiri.

Commentating on the huge fight between Singha Mawynn and Allazov, the strawweight world champion gave his thoughts in an interview with ONE Championship:

“Superbon is against the odds. It's a very big fight. Now we see a different Allazov. Allazov is ready for the fight, he comes back training hard like the Allazov of one time.”

A fellow European with Allazov and Petrosyan, Joseph Lasiri is especially high on the ability of the world title challengers.

However, the Europeans have grown accustomed to fighting on enemy territory, and even more so next week, when Superbon fights in his home country of Thailand in front of a supportive crowd of Thai fans.
