UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley has dabbled with the idea of cross-over fights in boxing. He has gone back and forth with boxing star Ryan Garcia in the past, confident in his abilities to deliver inside the ring.
O'Malley, who is gearing up to take on Merab Dvalishvili at Noche UFC 306, recently shed light on the upcoming matchup in an interview with American sports television personality Stephen A. Smith. During the interview, 'Suga' revisited his desire to compete in boxing and issued a challenge to WBA (World Boxing Association) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. O'Malley said:
"People hate when I bring up boxing. I don't know if I'm there yet and I'm okay with that. If I need to go out and knock out 2-3 more guys to get a boxing fight, I'm okay with that. I'll keep doing what I do. I wouldn't mind Gervonta Davis. He's so little. I like the matchup and we're the same weight class. That'd be the one if I could pick."
Previewing the matchup, O'Malley added:
"I believe I can beat Gervonta Davis. I'm a fan of his skillset. He's very dangerous and I'm not denying that. I'm chasing greatness and I believe I can transfer over to boxing. Give me six months, give me a legitimate boxing camp... I'm very dangerous with both hands... I believe I can get the job done."

Several fans took to X to react to the video of O'Malley claiming that he could potentially beat Davis with a six-month boxing camp. They wrote:
"Gervonta Davis would do illegal things to Sean O’Malley inside the boxing ring, unfortunately. When is a boxer going to step into the cage is the real question?"
"'Tank' genuinely knocks him out cold."
"Tank would actually take this kids head off lol."
"He’ll get knocked out easy.
This ain’t MMA here where he can get away with his hands down by his waist, evading shots, standing tall with his chin in the air because you’re 5’11. He’s gonna fu*k around and find out real quick. Try switching stances while Tank pressures you."

Teddy Atlas reveals why Gervonta Davis can be a bad matchup for Sean O'Malley
Prominent boxing trainer and analyst Teddy Atlas holds high reverence for Sean O'Malley's striking abilities.
In line with that sentiment, Atlas believes his skillsets will fare well against someone like Ryan Garcia. Having said that, Atlas also added that Gervonta Davis could be a bad matchup for the UFC bantamweight champion. Speaking about the matchup on his YouTube channel, Atlas said:
"Who would I take out of those two top guys? I’m not knocking him, but I wouldn’t take ‘Tank’ Davis. But I’d [Ryan] take Garcia because ‘Tank’ Davis to me is the more well-rounded fighter. There are more things to worry about. He can punch. He can counterpunch. He can get you. There are so many facets to his game, and he’s so consistent. Garcia hasn’t shown us that can be consistent.” [H/t: MMA Junkie]
