Former ONE lightweight MMA world champion Eduard Folayang believes atomweight fighter Denice Zamboanga has a good chance of emerging as a world champion in her next fight, provided she comes in prepared and believes she can do it.

'The Menace' will challenge for the atomweight MMA world title against reigning divisional queen Stamp Fairtex at ONE 167 on June 7 in Bangkok, Thailand. Zamboanga is angling to cut the Thai superstar's reign as champion in her first title defense.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Lions Nation MMA's Folayang shared that he is confident of fellow Filipino fighter Zamboanga becoming the new ONE atomweight MMA world champion.

However, he premised it on the 27-year-old having solid preparation and confidence to go out and seize the title from the reining champion.

Folayang said:

"For as long as she keeps her faith that God will give her the strength to win, and she comes in with a solid prparation, she'll have her shot."

Folayang says key to Denice Zamboanga victory is a formidable ground game

Eduard Folayang sees a solid ground game as being the key to Denice Zamboanga winning over Stamp Fairtex in their scheduled title clash at ONE 167 on June 7 in Bangkok, Thailand.

'Landslide' said the team of Zamboanga should come in to the contest armed not only with striking but also an equally working ground game to present varying looks to the reigning ONE atomweight MMA world champion, who is a noted striker.

Folayang shared in the same interview with ABS-CBN:

"A few things I'm looking at in this match for Denice is her wrestling and ground game against Stamp."

Heading into ONE 167, Denice Zamboanga is riding a two-fight winning run. Her latest victory was in April last year, where she won by unanimous decision over Brazilian Julie Mezabarba.

The title shot is something that Zamboanga has long sought and now that it is at hand, she is dead set on not allowing it to go to waste.

Meanwhile, Stamp is making her first defense of the world title she claimed back in September against South Korean Ham Seo Hee by TKO in the third round.

Stamp and Zamboanga were former teammates at Fairtex Gym in Pattaya, Thailand, and developed a friendship during their training days.

ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga will emanate from the Impact Arena in Bangkok and will be available live and for free in U.S. primetime on June 7 to North American fans via Amazon Prime Video.
