The featherweight kickboxing division in ONE Championship is stacked with elite strikers and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong is certainly a part of that top-tier group.

That being said, the Thai veteran hasn't had the best run of form as of late but he hopes to start turning that around soon.

At 32 years old, he still has aspirations to face the best fighters in the division and become a world champion once again.

Two of his four defeats under the ONE Championship banner have come to the two current titleholders in the division.

Whilst he expects Chingiz Allazov and Superbon to meet in a rematch sometime soon to unify the belts, he also wants a few rematches of his own.

In a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, Sitthichai broke down the lay of the land in the division right now and where his place is:

"I think Superbon should face Chingiz because he is the interim champion so a fight with the champion makes sense. From my side, I will try harder so that one day I can challenge for the title too."

Sitthichai has the perfect opportunity to get back in the mix

Coming off of back-to-back losses under the ONE banner, Sitthichai knows that he needs to change his fortunes around to climb back up the pecking order.

Aside from fighting the likes of Superbon or Allazov, he may have earned the next biggest fight possible which will undoubtedly get him back in the mix with a win.

At ONE 167, he will look to spoil the ONE Championship debut of Japanese star Masaaki Noiri who will be making his highly anticipated debut.

The fight is sure to have a lot of eyes on it and whilst most people will be keen to see how Noiri fairs, this could work massively in the favor of Sitthichai if he is able to get his hand raised.

ONE 167 will air live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 7. North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire card for free.
