At least one-half of a UFC 310 preliminary fight appears borderline guaranteed to turn up to the scale in shape. The opening bout of the preliminary card features a welterweight clash between two surging talents in Bryan Battle and Randy Brown. A recent Instagram upload by the former revealed his weight-cutting lengths.
Battle is so dedicated to making weight for his UFC 310 bout that he voluntarily skipped Thanksgiving dinner, saying as much in the post's official caption. Given that the pay-per-view is just one week away, and will be the final one of the year, he is doing everything in his power to keep his weight down.
"So skinny we skipped thanksgiving dinner."
The post featured him posing beside his younger sister Gracie Hannah. The surging 170-pounder, who is 12-2 will look to maintain his excellent run of form come fight night, as he is unbeaten in his last four fights. Unfortunately, among his three wins is a no-contest against Ange Loosa.
Battle was especially incensed by the verdict, as he believed that Loosa's claim of not being able to continue fighting after an accidental eyepoke was the latter's attempt at looking for a way out of the fight without suffering an official loss. In fact, his post-fight tirade nearly sparked a brawl between the two camps.
Meanwhile, his scheduled opponent, Brown, sports a 19-5 record and is currently on a three-fight win streak, which he authored since being submitted by Jack Della Maddalena at their UFC 284 encounter.
UFC 310 lost its main event, leading to a shakeup of the card
UFC 310's original headline was Belal Muhammad vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov, which would have seen 'Remember the Name' defend his newly acquired welterweight title against the unbeaten Kazakh. Unfortunately, Muhammad was forced to withdraw due to a medical issue, forcing the promotion to call upon another fighter.
Another undefeated welterweight in Ian Machado Garry answered the call, stepping in on short-notice to face Rakhmonov, who is rumored to have knocked him out in training. This bumped the previous co-main event, Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura, to the main event slot.
