Jack Della Maddalena rose to the occasion to perform in front of his home fans by submitting Randy Brown in the first round at UFC 284.

Jack Della Maddalena walked out to a thunderous reception from over 15,000 fans in attendance at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The hometown hero could have been easily overwhelmed by the magnitude of the event, but instead he stayed calm and delivered a magnificent performance.

Brown used his lateral movement and looked keen to capitalize on his significant height and five-inch reach advantage early on. Jack Della Maddalena was unfazed by Brown's antics and exercised patience until he found the perfect opening when his opponent was caught against the cage.

Della Maddalena landed a right hook flush as Brown attempted to pull away from the punches. Instead of chasing the finish with reckless abandonment, the Australian maintained his composure and sunk in a tight rear-naked choke that forced the tap out of his opponent. Della Maddalena walked away with perhaps the biggest victory of his career so far in front of a roaring Perth home crowd.
