Jonathan Haggerty has been a staple of ONE Championship's striking roster since making his debut in 2019.

The current two-sport world champion at bantamweight came into the promotion as a flyweight Muay Thai contender with lots of potential.

This potential was clear to see from the moment that he first stepped inside the Circle to take on Joseph Lasiri in Indonesia. 'The General' emerged that night with a decision win but it wasn't necessarily the result that captured the imagination of the fans.

Haggerty's creativity was on full display in this fight as he landed several tomahawk elbows that will forever be seen on ONE highlight reels. The Brit recalled this fight during a recent YouTube video where he said that landing those elbows was a huge moment for him in his career:

"I think we didn't have that animosity before the fight. I think he would have stayed down but I felt like he thought he had to get up after that. And I remember landing that shot, social media went mad. Had the likes of Jon Jones posting the comment on it, and all sorts of fighters. So, yeah, this round, I think it is the third round. I could just remember Chris telling me, you gotta go for it. Go for it."

Jonathan Haggerty hasn't looked back since

Jonathan Haggerty may have had to face some adversity along the way but ever since making his ONE Championship debut, he's continued to grow and improve as an elite striker.

Diving right in at the deep end after making his debut ended up being a blessing in disguise for 'The General' as he shocked the world in his second fight to dethrone Sam-A and become the flyweight champion.

Now, with flyweight far behind him, Haggerty will look to continue his reign as the king of the bantamweights.

His Muay Thai crown will be up for grabs in the main event of ONE 168, where he seeks revenge over Superlek in Denver.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
