AEW champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) got into a heated exchange of words with UFC megastar Conor McGregor on Twitter.

It all began with a back-and-forth between UFC rising star Paddy Pimblett and MJF on Instagram. It's unclear how the feud got started, but it got to the point where Pimblett challenged MJF to an MMA fight. In response, the pro wrestler dared 'The Baddy' to show up at an upcoming AEW show in London.

So how did McGregor get involved in this mess? At one point during their conversation, MJF referred to Pimblett as a "dollar store Conor McGregor," which the Irishman seemingly took offense to.

McGregor proceeded to call out MJF on Twitter, writing:

"A dollar store Conor is still worth millions! Let’s go young Paddy Pimb! Don’t know who this other clown is."

Not one to back out from a confrontation, the 26-year-old fired back by saying:

"I’ll f*** the Conor clone up. Then I’ll wipe my a** with the original. Stay in your lane you roided up leprechaun. You can’t hang with the @AEW World Champion."

However, it's important to consider that the feud between Pimblett and MJF could be part of a storyline for AEW. History tells us that it's entirely possible for an active UFC fighter to turn up in AEW programming.

Last year, UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal made a surprising appearance at AEW when he attacked Chris Jericho with his signature flying knee strike. Former UFC fighters Junior dos Santos and Paige VanZant have also made appearances on the show.

Conor McGregor goes after rival Khabib Nurmagomedov

Conor McGregor is all about social media feuds this week.

Before getting into it with MJF, McGregor went after his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Dagestani made a public speaking appearance in Toronto this past weekend and took a not-so-subtle shot at McGregor as he boasted about his team’s success.

Following the championship wins of Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov, 'The Eagle' claimed that the Dagestanis are taking over the world of MMA. It was a clear reference to McGregor's popular "We're not here to take part, we're here to take over!" speech.

Shortly after Nurmagomedov’s comments went viral, 'The Notorious' issued a response, daring 'The Eagle' to come out of retirement. He added that Nurmagomedov decided to retire because he was afraid of losing.
