It may be just the first month of the new year, but Superbon Singha Mawynn believes his world title defense against Chingiz Allazov will be the most important kickboxing match of 2023.

The bout for the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title was originally set for ONE on Prime Video 2 in September 2022. However, it experienced a couple of postponements due to sickness and injuries.

Nevertheless, the fight looks set to finally reach the circle for the main event of ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, with Superbon defending the strap at Impact Arena in Bangkok in US primetime on January 13.

Superbon, in an interview with ONE Championship, said that there’s no better time to defend the belt against Allazov and that their fight is the match that every striking fan should watch.

He said:

"Both Chingiz and I are in the top form. This fight will be super exciting. He wants my belt and I want to beat every contender in the ranking. It’s now or never for me and Chingiz. If we miss this chance; I don’t know when we will have a chance to fight again. I would say that this fight is the fight every kickboxing fan must watch.”

The Thai superstar holds a perfect 3-0 record in ONE Championship. He is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Marat Grigorian at ONE X in March 2022.

Allazov, meanwhile, captured a decisive unanimous decision win over Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in the final of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix to earn his shot at gold.

ONE Fight Night 6 will be available for free to existing Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Superbon training with Muay Thai legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao

The importance of his upcomingworld title defense isn’t lost on Superbon Singha Mawynn. That’s why he’s tapped the help of, arguably, the greatest Muay Thai fighter of the current era in his preparation.

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, the reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, and the featherweight Muay Thai king have been training together at Khun Suek Muay Thai in Krabi for a few weeks now.

Both striking superstars have posted their training sessions on Instagram, with the two fighters constantly honing their skills at each other.

Nong-O, too, is busy with his preparations for his world title defense against Alaverdi Ramazanov at ONE Lumpinee 1 at Lumpinee Stadium on January 20.
