Former UFC bantamweight title challenger Urijah Faber put his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills on full display against grappling legend Jeff Glover on May 25. The pair faced off in a combat jiu-jitsu event as part Faber's A1 Combat combat sports promotion.

The event was headlined by the clash between 'The California Kid' and Glover, with the ruleset stating that palm strikes would be allowed once an opponent was on the ground.

Faber's MMA background helped him tremendously during the match as he was able to generate significant force to land strikes, compared to Glover, who has a background in traditional submission grappling.

The former MMA fighter was able to secure a rear-naked choke finish with just under three minutes left in the match, forcing his opponent to tap. Footage of the finish was uploaded to X by @ufcfightpass, who wrote this:

"Urijah Faber just submitted Jeff Glover. You read that right."

Fans were elated with the result, although some were on hand to note that Glover's prior injury struggles left him as a diminished version of his old-self against Faber.

One fan wrote this:

"This had to be rigged. What was the line?"

Others wrote:

"Jeff has had tons of health issues with his back. Prime vs. prime Jeff wins."
"Urijah went toe to toe vs. 17-19 year Nicky Ryan"
"A lil prehistoric BJJ action"

How many times did Urijah Faber fight for the UFC title?

Urijah Faber is without doubt one of the greatest fighters to have competed in the UFC, but to have never held the prestigious UFC title.

Having won and defended the WEC featherweight title five times, 'The California Kid' was unable to translate that success into the 135 pound division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Faber competed for the title a total of four times, losing all four fights. He lost a title fight to Dominick Cruz in his promotional debut in 2011, and two fights later he was defeated by Renan Barao for the interim bantamweight title.

Fast forward two years and the former WEC champion once again faced Barao, this time for the undisputed title, where he lost via TKO. His final title shot came against Cruz, who once again defeated Faber via decision.
