Tom Aspinall has reaffirmed that Jon Jones is retired, and Aspinall has a date and location for his next fight, which will be announced shortly. Earlier this month, appearing on ESPN’s Good Guy/Bad Guy, Aspinall told Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen that he is now the "active heavyweight champion" who has news about his upcoming bout.
The Brit also doubled down on his prior claims that Jones is retired, and hence, he is ready to get the division moving.
While fans have hoped that 'Bones' vs. Aspinall would happen in 2025, despite multiple speculations and rumors, Aspinall, in a recent interview with The Independent, stated that he was not joking about Jones' retirement previously. He said:

"I don’t wanna say too much, but I've said what I have said on other interviews and stuff. People think I'm joking, but it’s the truth. I am not that kind of guy to pull any media stunts. What I'm saying is the truth. It will be announced pretty soon as far as I am aware."

Tom Aspinall gives Jon Jones a reminder
In a recent X post, while answering a fan question, Jon Jones said that it’s funny how Tom Aspinall calls him out and not the "studs of his generation."
"There's an interesting take! Sh*t, I’m 37 years old now. My body hurts everywhere if I’m being honest. Funny how Tommy boy talks zero s*it to the studs of his generation. Barely even mention their names."
Later, Aspinall took a dig at Jones for the latter's aforementioned remarks and replied via Threads, writing:
"I want the undisputed title 👍 think Jon’s forgot he’s got it 👴"

Jones has hinted at potential retirement and claimed that the UFC has been aware of his plans for a long time. The 37-year-old also wants Aspinall to find a new opponent, as he does not want to give the 32-year-old the chance to fight him.
