Tony Ferguson has been riding a rough patch inside the octagon as of late, having lost each of his last five fights in the sport, which directly followed his iconic 12-fight win streak dating back to 2013.

'El Cucuy' was one of the most feared lightweights on the planet during his prime years. However, age has seemingly caught up to him and he is in desperate search of redemption. Not only has he been in poor form, but the 39-year-old also suffered his first UFC submission loss and was viciously knocked out in his last two fights.

In a post on social media, Tony Ferguson's former opponent, Kevin Lee, called out the legendary brawler for a rematch, insisting that it was "time to correct history" following the result of their first bout. Ferguson defeated Lee via submission in the third round when they headlined UFC 216 in 2017.

It was recently announced that Kevin Lee had re-signed with the UFC less than two years after parting ways with the promotion. His time away from the octagon was short and the popular athlete fought only once outside the company when he earned a respectable decision victory over Diego Sanchez at an Eagle FC event last year.

Originally, the 30-year-old had plans to win Eagle FC's 165-pound title. But with Khabib Nurmagomedov's hiatus from MMA and the uncertainty surrounding the organization, that never came to fruition.

With Tony Ferguson competing at welterweight the last time he stepped into the cage, Lee will welcome a rematch and a chance at redemption as he continues his career in the UFC at 170 pounds.

Kevin Lee's UFC return: Is Tony Ferguson next up for 'The Motown Phenom'?

Kevin Lee is wasting no time in calling for big matchups upon his return to the UFC. He has his eyes firmly set on a future clash against undefeated rising star Khamzat Chimaev.

'The Motown Phenom' is also open to a Sean Brady bout as he wants to fast-track his way into title contention. Prior to fighting a ranked opponent, the welterweight may have to work his way up. What better way to do that than to face a man like Tony Ferguson?

Despite being down on his luck at present, the former interim lightweight champion is still a huge name in the sport. It would be a great way for Lee to showcase the improvements he has made since their last fight almost six years ago.
