Tatiana Suarez is widely regarded as a viable contender and the MMA community strongly believes that she has all the makings of a UFC champion. Suarez proved exactly why at UFC Vegas 70 with a spectacular submission victory over Montana De La Rosa.

Suarez returned to action after a three-and-a-half-year-long hiatus against De La Rosa in a flyweight bout. She picked up from where she left things off in her octagon return at UFC Vegas 70.

The American began as the aggressor, trying to get into a clinch battle with her opponent. Suarez spent the majority of the first round trying to establish a dominant position.

In the second round, Tatiana Suarez continued with her efforts to take the fight to her desired terrain. She managed to establish dominant side control over De La Rosa just minutes into the second round and worked patiently towards securing a submission.

De La Rosa tried to get back on her feet, only for Suarez to jump guard with a tight guillotine choke. She forced a tap out of her opponent with 2:51 on the clock, picking up a clinical submission victory in her octagon return.

Tatiana Suarez reflects on her victory over Montana De La Rosa at UFC Vegas 70

Tatiana Suarez's path to recovery has been arduous as she has been out of action since 2019. At UFC Vegas 70, she submitted Montana De La Rosa in the second round with a dominant performance. Suarez was evidently gratified to return to the octagon and pick up a solid victory.

Suarez was set to return to action in a flyweight bout against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 266 back in September 2021. However, Tatian Suarez's knee was severely injured during training two months prior to the event and a major knee reconstruction followed.

Reflecting on her journey recovering from the injury and her performance at UFC Vegas 70 in the post-fight interview, Tatiana Suarez stated:

"I've been dreaming about this for a long time. [I] wasn't able to fight and it's really hard when you can't do what you love to do the most. I know what it's like to lose one dream... I didn't want to lose another."

She added:

"I grew up in a single parent home. I [am] in a male dominated sport and I was told my whole life that I shouldn't be there. So here I am, I belong here."
