Jessica Andrade left Lauren Murphy bloodied and battered en route to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 283. However, fight fans were concerned by the sight of Murphy taking excessive damage over the course of the three rounds.

From the opening sequence of the fight, Andrade's flurry of punches was on full display as she smothered Murphy with blows. The UFC veteran of 22 bouts, who possesses serious knockout power in her punches, found her striking range early on in the fight. Fighting in front of her home crowd, the Brazilian allowed Murphy no time to settle in.

Although Murphy did manage to take Jessica Andrade's back occasionally, it was insufficient to swing the momentum back in her favor. Andrade maintained the pressure, hitting Murphy at will, en route to a decisive unanimous decision victory (30-25, 30-25, 30-26).

Statistics from the fight indicating that Lauren Murphy officially absorbed 161 significant head strikes during her loss to Andrade demonstrated that the American is too tough for her own good. Fellow MMA peers and fans lashed out at Murphy's corner for not throwing in the towel and protecting their fighter.

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping reacted mid-way through the fight on Twitter and wrote:

"Throw the towel in."

UFC heavyweight contender Tanner Boser claimed that Murphy's determination to not give up made the sight even worse:

"That was fu**ed. Andrade is a monster and Lauren Murphy is one of the toughest humans alive which made that even more rough #UFC283"

Derek Brunson joked that Murphy must have convinced her cornerman not to stop the fight:

"Lauren Murphy just said to her corner “f**k y’all get the ice” 😂😂😂 #UFC283"

Chris Curtis wrote:

"Lauren Murphy being beaten to death. Her corner: "Body Language!"

Jessica Andrade believes that her fight against Lauren Murphy should have been stopped

Jessica Andrade extended her win streak to 3-0 with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Lauren Murphy at UFC 283.

As the bout progressed, there was widespread agreement on social media that the referee should have intervened or Murphy's corner should have thrown in the towel to end the lopsided contest.

Reacting to her victory and giving her thoughts on whether the fight should have been stopped in the post-fight octagon interview, Jessica Andrade said [translated]:

"There were certain points where I thought that the fight was going to be stopped.... maybe I was missing or doing something else. A lot of people say I don't have technique but I think that I showed that tonight."
