Justin Gaethje would not be a happy man if Conor McGregor earns a title shot upon winning his comeback UFC fight.

'The Highlight' recently sat down for an interview with Brett Okamoto for ESPN. During a nearly 30-minute interview, Gaethje discussed various topics like his future plans and the possibility of a rematch with Dustin Poirier.

Speaking about the Irish superstar, Gaethje said that he would consider parting ways with the UFC if the promotion offers McGregor a championship fight after a possible victory against Michael Chandler.

"Would I quit if Conor won and they gave him a title shot? Probably. That's how hurt I would be by the actions of the company that I represent. But that's out of my control, so you know, I just really hope that it doesn't happen. We can imagine a lot of things but there's a possibility that that's the scenario, which I would be devastated, for sure," said Justin Gaethje.

The fight was a thrilling back-and-forth affair that ended with Gaethje getting his hand raised in the end. The three judges scored the bout 29-28, 29-28 and 28-28 in favor of Gaethje.

The contest claimed the 'Fight of the Night' honors and both fighters received an additional cheque of $50,000 each.

Conor McGregor weighs in on possibly fighting for UFC gold again

Many MMA personalities have voiced their opinions on the possibility of Conor McGregor fighting for the UFC belt with a possible win over Michael Chandler. Many are against the idea of the Irishman competing in a title fight after being out of action for so long.

McGregor recently fired back at his critics and demanded respect for his achievements in the sport. 'The Notorious' added that he felt optimistic about fighting for the title soon.

"Yeah, enough is enough with the disrespect that comes my way... People are going to give me my respect for the many facets of my game. My fighting style and everything else. I'm going to waltz back into a title shot, make no mistake about it. It's that or I won't, you know what I mean? It has to be a title shot, what else can it f**king be?" [7:34 onwards]
