Anderson Silva couldn't be more proud that his son Kalyl Silva won his professional boxing debut. On Saturday night in Bahia, Brazil, his 23-year-old son won his very first professional fight.

Silva, who was a former UFC middleweight champion, and renowned boxing trainer Luiz Carloz Dorea served as the young fighter's cornerman. Kalyl Silva knocked out Paulo dos Santos with a devastating shot to the breadbasket in the fourth and final round of their fight.

Anderson Silva, overcome with emotion by the whole scenario, joined his son in the center of the boxing ring. The MMA legend and Kalyl Silva bowed to one another as a show of respect for the combat sports discipline and then embraced each other to commemorate the momentous occasion.

Kalyl Silva made his first appearance inside the squared circle since losing a unanimous decision to Michael Mitchell Jr. earlier this year in an amateur kickboxing match. Prior to that, he won successive bouts against Anthony Reynaga and Melo Palmuk.

Silva, a former footballer, played as a forward for LA10 FC in the United Premier Soccer League in California. He decided not to renew his contract at the end of the previous season so he could pursue other combat sports options.

Michael Jai White claims he was surprised when Jake Paul beat Anderson Silva

Hollywood actor and mixed martial arts savant Michael Jai White claims that he was shocked by Jake Paul's performance against Anderson Silva in their boxing match earlier in October this year.

Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, upset former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva on points in front of 14,000 fans in attendance at the Desert Diamond Arena in Phoenix.

The fight lasted all eight rounds, and Paul won by unanimous decision after knocking down Silva in the final round. It was the most significant victory of the 25-year-old's boxing career so far, despite the fact that Anderson Silva, at 47, is in the twilight of his own career and is better recognized for his UFC accolades than boxing triumphs.

Shedding light on what surprised him in the bout, Jai White stated:

"He [Paul] surprised me. Jake beating Anderson surprised me. I knew Jake had a punch on him [but] I thought Anderson had better defensive skills. I thought he would make him miss. I thought it would've been easier for Anderson to make Jake miss. But it wasn't so."
